Silver Stars Sign Forward Tasha Humphrey

SAN ANTONIO, March 9, 2010 – The San Antonio Silver Stars today announced the signing of forward Tasha Humphrey to a training camp contract.

Humphrey started the 2009 season with the Washington Mystics but signed with the Minnesota Lynx on July 17, 2009. With the Lynx, Humphrey averaged 7.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 17.9 minutes per game. Additionally, she shot 39.9% from field goal range, 32.2% from beyond the arc and 80.8% from the free throw line.

The Detroit Shock drafted Humphrey in the first round (11th overall) in the 2008 WNBA Draft. She played in 22 games for the Shock and averaged 7.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game before being traded to the Mystics on Aug. 11, 2008. Humphrey finished the 2008 season in Washington, averaging 11.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game in eight games played.

During the 2009-2010 offseason, the two-year WNBA veteran has collected averages of 12.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 23.3 minutes per game for İstanbul Üniversitesi (İstanbul, Turkey). She has recorded double-digit point totals in all but three games and tallied her first double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds on Feb. 20.
